At the renowned House of Blues San Diego, attendees were treated
to an unforgettable night of jazz, funk and soul as Nikka Costa
took the stage, supported by opener Helena Holleran in a showcase
that highlighted both a seasoned veteran and an emerging talent.
Helena Holleran opened the evening with a captivating set blending
psych-folk and indie-jazz. Her songs “Vega” and “Mirror” resonated
strongly with the crowd, her heartfelt lyrics and intricate guitar
work creating an intimate atmosphere that set the perfect tone for
the night ahead.
Nikka Costa then took over and instantly elevated the energy in
the room. Known for her gritty voice and dynamic stage presence,
Costa delivered a well-curated setlist mixing soulful ballads with
high-energy funk-rock anthems. Her band was locked in at every
moment — standout guitar solos, tight drum sequences and a
keyboardist who added rich layers to the overall sound.
What set the night apart was the genuine connection both artists
built with the audience. Whether through storytelling, responding
to crowd energy or leading sing-alongs, Holleran and Costa
transformed the concert into a shared experience rather than
just a performance.
