Downtown San Diego came alive on March 24, 2024, as thousands
of runners took to the streets for the annual San Diego 5K
and Half Marathon — a beloved community tradition that
celebrates athleticism, perseverance and the spirit of San
Diego.

Participants of all ages and fitness levels lined up at the
start, ready to tackle routes that wound through iconic city
landmarks and along the stunning waterfront. The 5K drew
novice runners and seasoned athletes alike, while the half
marathon offered a more demanding test of endurance through
the city’s urban and coastal landscapes.

Supporters packed the sidewalks with signs, balloons and
thunderous encouragement. Local businesses joined in —
setting up water stations, offering discounts to participants
and creating a festive atmosphere that energized runners
throughout the course. Volunteers worked tirelessly from
start to finish, keeping everything running smoothly and
cheering every runner across the line.

What made the day truly special was the sense of community
that filled the air. Runners bonded over shared training
stories, triumphs and challenges. As the final participants
crossed the finish line — exhausted but elated — the feeling
of collective accomplishment was undeniable.

The San Diego 5K and Half Marathon is more than a race.
It is a celebration of community, dedication and the
indomitable human spirit that defines this city.
