OCEANSIDE, Calif. (July 17, 2026) —Demonstrators gathered Friday evening at the intersection of Mission Avenue and Canyon Drive in Oceanside to protest recent immigration enforcement actions and express support for immigrant communities.
The demonstration drew residents and supporters from across San Diego County, many carrying handmade signs and chanting messages critical of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Protesters lined the sidewalks surrounding the intersection, where chants, whistles, and air horns echoed throughout the evening as participants sought to raise awareness of their concerns over immigration policies and enforcement efforts.
The protest remained peaceful as people assembled along the busy roadway, engaging with passing motorists and pedestrians. Many drivers responded by honking their horns or waving in support, prompting cheers from the crowd. Others slowed as they passed through the intersection to observe the demonstration.
Participants said they attended to voice concerns about the impact immigration enforcement has had on local families and communities. The gathering reflected a range of perspectives centered on advocating for immigrant rights and calling for changes to current enforcement policies.
Law enforcement officers were present in the area to monitor the event and assist with traffic management. No significant disturbances were observed during the demonstration.
The Oceanside gathering was one of several demonstrations held across Southern California in recent weeks as immigration enforcement continues to be a topic of public debate. Community members used the event to peacefully assemble, share their viewpoints, and encourage public discussion on an issue that remains deeply important to many residents throughout the region.
The demonstration concluded later in the evening without major incident as participants gradually dispersed from the intersection.
